JAN 2012, WASHINGTON, DC:  On January 26, 2012, the United States Patent and Trademark Office published a new patent application filed by Raj Mahadevaiah, President & CEO of EIC.  The new patent-pending product entails a "Stationary Boom Support System" that enables efficient recovery of oil and chemical spills on surface waters.  Conventional boom systems temporarily contain spills until wave actions gradually breach the containment.  By contrast, the new invention facilitates active recovery of oil and chemicals contained within a multi-tiered boom system that remains geostationary - without bottom anchors that damage the coral reefs or bottom sediments.  Several variations in deployment allows for effectively intercepting the spilled product from reaching shorelines, water intakes, or other sensitive environments.  The system can also prevent oil and chemical seeps from land in migrating to surface waters.
